Paradise Town Hall on Wildfires & The Climate Crisis - Earth Day, 2019
Where: Paradise, Chico, and Butte County, California
When: *Tentatively* being planned on (and around) Earth Day (April 22) with a variety of events being planned during the week BEFORE and AFTER Earth Day, including April 20th - 25th. Exact Dates and Times TBD as we confirm schedules with invited speakers.
What: A series of conversations, panels, and salons with experts (wildfire firefighters, climate scientists, elected officials and community leaders) along with wildfire survivors and community to discuss causes of the wildfire, to highlight ongoing long-term recovery needs, to answer questions, discuss how to prevent this from happening again, and to call for bipartisan climate action based on consensus of peer-reviewed science.
Who: We are still lining-up speakers, creating panels, confirming dates, venues, and partners. Confirmed: Audrey Denney, Wildfire Survivors for Climate Action D.C. trip, Chico Sustainability Task Force, Sunrise Movement and fire survivors from the community. Events will be open to the public.
