Town Hall on Climate Crisis and Wildfires
Where: Paradise, Chico, and surrounding communities in Butte County California
When: *Tentatively* being planned on (and around) Earth Day (April 22, 2019), with events the week before and after.
What: a series of conversations, panels, and salons with experts (wildfire firefighters, climate scientists, elected officials, and community leaders) as well as members of the community impacted by the 2018 Camp Fire, in conversation to explore the causes of the wildfire, to highlight the ongoing recovery needs of the community, to answer community questions, to discuss how to prevent wildfire disasters from happening again and to call for bipartisan climate action based on the consensus of peer-reviewed climate science.
Who will be speaking: We are in the process of reaching out to and lining up speakers, creating the panels, confirming dates and venues, and finding partners. Currently Confirmed: Audrey Denney (co-host), Chico Sustainability Task Force, and the Sunrise Movement.
